Questa volta si tratta di un community art installation a Varna, Bulgaria creata da Ignatov Architects. Insieme con 128 volontari, hanno creato Mirror Culture, un impianto per sostenere la candidatura di Varna per la Capitale Europea della Cultura nel 2019. Grazie alla sua immensa popolarità, Varna è stata in grado di passare recentemente la fase di pre-selezione!
Yes again and again! Proud to read beautiful things about my home country and all the amazing people that keep creating great things! This time it's an community art installation in Varna, Bulgaria created by Ignatov Architects. Along with 128 volunteers, they created Mirror Culture, an installation to support Varna’s bid for the European Capital of Culture in 2019. Thanks to its immense popularity, Varna was able to recently pass the pre-selection phase!
Per creare Mirror Culture, hanno raccoloto 6.000 CD e gli hanno attaccato su una personalizzata rete da pesca a maglia all'ingresso del Giardino del Mare a Varna. Durante il suo debutto estivo è stato visto da più 50.000 visitatori. Ispirato dalla riflessione della luce sull'acqua, l'installazione si muove con anche la minima brezza. Ogni onda ispira ed illumina l'ambiente circostante con il suo colore dell'arcobaleno e il movimento. La simbologia dei CD nei confronti di una rete da pesca rappresenta un riflesso del nostro tempo attuale - una prossimità digitale e analogica.
To create Mirror Culture, they gathered 6,000 CDs and attached them onto a custom knitted fishing net at the entrance of the Seaside Garden. During its summer debut, it had already been seen by 50,000 visitors. Inspired by the reflection of light on water, the installation moves with even the slightest breeze. Each wave inspires and brightens its surroundings with its rainbow color and motion. The symbolism of the CDs against a fishing net represents a reflection of our current time – a juxtaposition of digital and analog.
